How to Choose an Automatic Retractable Gate

What this guide covers
A retractable gate is the right answer for wide vehicle entrances — but only if five decisions are made correctly. Here's how our engineers size them.
1. Opening width decides the model
Retractable gates are built to order in custom lengths, so the opening width is the first number we need. Measure the clear width between pillars — the gate, its head unit and the retracted stack all have to fit the site, not just the opening.
2. Material: aluminum or stainless steel
Aluminum alloy is lighter and cost-effective for most sites; stainless steel suits coastal or corrosive environments and premium appearances. Both are rust-resistant for long outdoor service.
3. Height: 1600mm standard
Our standard models (Aluminum 001/002/003, Tianying A-01, Jinggang Qumei) stand 1600mm. Taller or shorter? That's an OEM discussion — tell us the requirement.
4. Drive & control
Electric drive with remote control is standard. Decide upfront whether you need access control, intercom or IoT remote monitoring integrated — retrofitting costs more than factory integration.
5. Site conditions
Retractable gates run on the ground, so the driveway should be level and clean where the gate travels. If the driveway can't be kept clear, consider a suspended gate instead — no ground track at all.
